International Roll Call

Hello rollers, lovers, and travelers,

August was hot — and not just because of the weather. We launched in London, taught first-timers to double in Soho, and danced our way through another month of backgammon, locuritas, and perfectly timed match points.

And this month? We celebrate 40 events!! Forty moments of play, strategy, and showing up. Forty reminders that yes — something ancient can still feel brand new when it’s shared with the right people. Thank you to our old and new attendees. And a very special mention to our team of hosts, you are amazing.

August Highlights:

• Pastis: The french affair was a hit and you all helped us pack the house.

• London Launch: We celebrated our debut at Speltham, surrounded by linen and brits. Cheers to all the new friends who showed up!

• The Tourney: We featured two golden tickets to Isa Isaza’s Dish Craves, a local female owned supper club. Congrats to our winner Jose Luis!

• The Shelborne: We closed it off with a golden broach. This art deco icon in Miami Beach opened it’s doors for our magic community — and we loved it!

Fun Fact: Backgammon was once illegal in the UK.
During the 16th and 17th centuries, backgammon (then known as “tables”) was so popular among the English elite that it was banned under certain laws aimed at curbing gambling. Players hid boards inside folding books to avoid suspicion — which is why many vintage backgammon boards today still resemble bound books (hint at our next tournament prize)
